When planning your wedding reception, ensure you have selected a location that fits with the theme of your wedding. Have you received a contract in writing and secured the hall with a deposit? If you are using your home church for the reception as well as the wedding, be sure to check with their terms of use. Many brides are surprised to find that their home church does not allow alcohol or dancing on the premises. Plan ahead so there are no surprises.

Money saviing tips:

Order your wedding favors from the same catalog or online store that you use for your wedding invitations. This could save you money on shipping, depending on the store policy.

The Reception

If using your home church, ask what is available for use. Often, churches have tables, chairs, lattice boards, plants, etc. at your disposal.

If you are a member of the church, the use of the reception facilities (and the use of the church for the wedding itself) is often free, provided you pay for a custodian to clean up afterwards.

Use miniature white or clear Christmas-type lights for decoration of a gym or small reception hall, and then dim the lights somewhat to create a more elegant atmosphere.

Save money on table centerpieces with this idea: use votif candles in clear platic bowls of water, with pebbles inside each bowl, and with pretty confetti of your choice sprinkled on the tablecloth around each bowl (red and gold hearts, etc.).
