Honeymoon Expectations, Honest Relationships and Marriage
Expectations are high when you are starting your new life together. They should be- you can make your new life together anything you want it to be!
Remember that there are two of you and you will have one marriage. This means compromise, which is easier for some than others.
Be sure you have an open and honest relationship. Are there topics you just cannot discuss? Thoughts and feelings you have never felt comfortable expressing or sharing with your future spouse?
This is the time to get real, get closer, and establish that bond now, early on. Honesty is extremely important in a marriage, and trust follows honesty.
Discuss expectations for your big day and honeymoon too. Women often dream about the big even since a young age, and men do not always realize this.
Discuss the details of your dream honeymoon, for example. If you want your honeymoon to be a surprise, that is great- just be sure you discuss a range of “surprises” that would be wonderful to you. If you expect him to read your mind, WATCH OUT! Though you are deeply in love, you most likely do not share telekinetic powers.
A dream honeymoon to your future husband may be camping in the wilderness for a week, hiking and fishing, just the two of you. Is your dream to be pampered at a spa and bask in the sun in some exotic tropical isle? A cruise?
Talk about it now. There are all sorts of compromises that can be reached, and also all sorts of adventures to fit any budget.
